In the late 1970s, Lisabeth Braun was a civil servant with a stable life ahead. However, a visit to a compounding pharmacy in Buenos Aires sparked the entrepreneurial spirit in Lisa, leading her to see an opportunity at the age of 30. She left her job and sold her Volkswagen Beetle to invest in a business venture that was then non-existent in Rio de Janeiro.
"Who is the man behind the company?" was a question Lisa often faced. With young children and all the uncertainties of a new business, she traded certainty for doubt. It took strength and courage to follow her dream in a predominantly male universe. She assumed all roles: from creating formulas and managing finances to serving customers at her small shop in Copacabana.
She won the trust of the medical class with her excellent products. The demand grew so much that, in 1990, Lisa saw another opportunity: why not industrialize the most requested formulas? A new beginning, new challenges. Thus, Dermage, a brand of dermocosmetics, was born, going beyond the compounding of formulas.
While all this was unfolding, Ilana Braun, her daughter, was pursuing a different path. One day, while working in finance, she decided to take her vacation to immerse herself in her mother's company. After ten days filled with childhood memories, she chose to leave everything to join the family business.
That was the missing piece. The joint forces of mother and daughter, combined with experience in product development and a keen sense for business, typical of young entrepreneurs, led to rapid expansion.
All products are developed with high-efficacy active ingredients, cruelty-free, resulting from extensive research with proven effectiveness for Brazilian skin, and award-winning formulas. The know-how of that young woman who won each doctor's recommendation in Rio de Janeiro in the 1980s has grown into something much larger, with professional endorsements spreading throughout Brazil.
From a small room in Copacabana to over 60 stores nationwide, including owned and franchised, as well as distribution in pharmacies and the multi-brand giant Sephora, Dermage is more than a success story—it is a testament to the power of female entrepreneurship. It's Lisa's dream, meeting Ilana's dream, with the conviction of those who believe in their purpose.
And now, as Dermage extends its legacy of beauty and innovation, we proudly embark on our newest journey: bringing our acclaimed skincare line to the United States. This expansion is a bold stride into new horizons, carrying with us the essence of our Brazilian roots and the universal language of beauty.
